Our programs are based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which was developed by the Australian Government to support and enhance young children’s learning. These contain many learning experiences that you will be able to view throughout the orientation process. We like to involve the community in our practise as much as possible, which has us visiting many places all year around. We are a multicultural centre and ask all families to share their family traditions and experiences.
Some of the activities your child may participate in include:
- Visits from Bunnings to talk about gardening, food production and worm farms.
- Orientation excursions to Stuart Park Preschool so that older children and
their parents can begin to build relationships with future teachers and their
environment. - Excursions to Parap Road Safety Centre where children are taught safety
lessons of riding safely around roads and how to perform a bike check. - Darwin City library excursions.
- Darwin Museum excursions.
- Visits from Healthy Harold to talk about healthy living.
- Hey Dee Ho Music incursions.
- Visits to Mindle beach and Gothenburg oval.
Our educators use Story Park to communicate your child’s learning and daily activities with you. Story Park is a private online platform where families and educators can share photos, videos, stories, notes and responses. This will help you be part of your child’s day no matter where you are. Once you’ve enrolled your child at SPCCC, we’ll invite you to join a closed Facebook group. We use this group to update you on what’s happening, issue reminders and share good news. The group is secure – we only grant access by invite and we only allow access to parents of currently enrolled children. When your child is no longer at SPCCC, you’ll be removed from the group.
Climate Resilience:
Stuart Park Child Care Centre is working towards a plan to become a climate resilient centre by enhancing passive cooling, increase urban green spaces and biodiversity, which will facilitate outdoor play for longer periods of time and in hotter weather.
Cultural Responsiveness:
The service has a wide range of educators and families from diverse backgrounds. We often celebrate days which has cultural significance for both the families and educators at SPCCC. We have three aged-based rooms at SPCCC to best suit your growing child’s needs and stages of development.
